“Don’t work too hard - you’ll burn out”
“Only those who hustle make it to the top”
“Don’t hustle too much, let your business naturally become successful”
“You have to go after what you want or you will never get it”
Have you ever listened to how contradicting everyone’s opinions are about work - life balance?
I could go on, and on, and on about how people think you should run your biz. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion - but that doesn’t mean it’s right and it will work for everyone.
I personally struggle (to this day) with my work - life balance.
I constantly feel guilty giving my time away to activities that do not fuel my passion.
I feel guilty working on my business when I could be spending time with my friends + family.
I feel guilty when I am out with friends or family, when all I can think about is working on my business.
I feel like I’m in a constant battle with guilt, unsure how to just be in the moment.
Slowly, but surely - I am finding ways to make this life work. Writing my schedule out in monthly + weekly increments with time for flexibility has been what has worked best for me so far. I never know how my day is going to go, so adding some flexibility in prior has been the best for me.
I dedicate myself to that time I have. I give 100% to that time. If it’s business time - I want 0 interruptions. If it’s family & friends time - I want 0 notifications!
I have to remind myself that the work will always be there and I will never get it all done. There are seasons for hustle and seasons for relax. Cherishing them both will help my feelings of guilt.
I tell myself it’s okay to have a night with friends and on the flipside, it’s okay to work into the late hours of night.
I know what makes me happy- my business, my family, and my friends.
So far, these seem to work for me..
